Manchester United (Man United) missed out on a victory that was all theirs. The pundit criticized Marcus Rashford (27), who played up front.

Manchester United drew 1-1 away to Brentford in the 30th round of the 2023-2024 English Premier League (EPL) at the G-Tech Community Stadium in Brentford, England, on Jan. 31 (local time).

Mason Mount scored a dramatic goal in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time after the score was 0-0. United were virtually assured of all three points. However, Brentford's Christopher Ayer equalized in the ninth minute of stoppage time and United had to settle for a point.

Notably, United only managed 11 shots (5 on target) despite having 53% of the ball possession. In comparison, Brentford outshot United with 31 shots (5 on target). Brentford also outshot United in free kicks and corners, 15 to 7 and 14 to 4.

The draw keeps United in sixth place in the table. With 48 points, they are now eight points behind fifth-place Tottenham (56), who came from behind to win 2-1 at Luton Town on a Son Heung-min goal.

Tottenham pundit Jamie Redknapp expressed his disappointment with United's performance after the game, [https://www.safetotosite.pro/](토토사이트)telling Sky Sports, "I can't believe the lack of effort, the lack of grit, the lack of desire to win a personal battle to get things done."

"I was watching Rashford," he said, "he was walking around like he was out there," criticizing Rashford's attitude throughout the game.

Rashford played the full 80 minutes and had just one shot on target. According to soccer stats firm Futbol, Rashford had just five of his 53 touches inside the opposition box. He created two chances and converted one out of two dribbles, but his rating of 7.1 was mediocre.

As one of the top talents to come out of United's youth ranks, Rashford was expected to develop into the team's ace. Indeed, Rashford led the team's offense with 30 goals and nine assists (17 goals and five assists in the league) in 56 games last season.

However, Rashford has been a disappointment of late, with his derailing behavior and sub-par performances. In January, Rashford controversially pulled out of training ahead of the FA Cup round of 32 against Newport. The club claimed he was ill, but in reality, he was out partying until dawn and didn't return until the morning.

His performances plummeted. In total, Rashford has just eight goals and six assists (seven goals and three assists in the league) in 36 games this season. He"s taking a step backwards at the age of his prime.

That"s why transfer rumors continue to surround Rashford. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), where Lee Kang-in plays, are reportedly interested in Rashford.

After failing to win the Premier League title, United are struggling to compete in the top four. They now face competition from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool. With a UEFA Champions League spot out of reach next season, the only thing they can hope for is an FA Cup title. United's reliance on Rashford is only getting more frustrating.

United manager Eric ten Haag was disappointed with the result. "We didn't deserve to win," he said, "If we wanted to win, we should have won this game. I would say we are usually very good in these situations," he said.

"We showed resilience during the game, but Brentford were better in attack. We need to show more passion and desire in many moments of the game," he emphasized.

"When we don't play well, we still have to win. "My disappointment is that we didn't get over the line," he added, "and we almost did. We fought with spirit, but it wasn't enough," he added.
